Nonnative Amnesty Day Event

September 25, 2010
Jacksonville Zoo, Jacksonville, FL

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission co-host a Pet Amnesty Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in the zoo parking lot at 370 Zoo Parkway, off Heckscher Drive.

In an effort to keep unwanted exotic pets out of Florida's native habitats, they can be surrendered to Fish and Wildlife with no questions asked and no penalties  at the event. A veterinarian will examine each animal, and every attempt will be made to place all healthy animals with qualified adopters. Live animals will be on display, and experts available to discuss proper care of exotic pets, so people thinking about purchasing one can learn before they buy.
