Our speaker for our November meeting was Dino Ferri.
Curator of the Herpetology at Jacksonville Zoo and Garden. He
brought a great slideshow from his trip to Jamaica where he studied
the native boas. Mongooses were brought in to control the rats
and have turned to eating many of the wild life in Jamaica including
the native boas. They are continually trapping to control the
population of the mongoose. I think we all learned a lot about
Jamaica. It would really be a great place to go herping and
Jamaica has no venomous snakes.
