May 2  Meeting - 2010

Our May meeting was for the kids and we had a special speaker. His name is Milton Rieback and he works at the zoo with the elephants. In the past, he lived in South Africa and worked with animals there. He has written a children's book called The Adventures Of Webb Ellis. It is about a rhino and some other animals he has worked with. He told us all about the animals in his new book. Then we had seven young JHS members to show and tell us about their favorite reptile that they keep. First up was KC, showing us his blue tongued skink. Next up was KC's little brother Nicholas and he showed us his pet corn snake.  Then their baby brother Nathan wanted to show everyone his pet corn snake that he shows all the visitors at the MVP.  Then Trenton had two of his pets, a baby Savannah Monitor and a big Tegu that was about as big as Trenton. Then Logan showed us a beautiful pair of sonoran lyre snakes. Very unusual but doesn't get very big. Ben showed everyone his pair of corns that he said was bred and he was hoping to hatch babies this summer. Up next was our speaker, Milton Rieback's son, Caiman, who showed everyone his big corn snake. After all of our young herps had shown us their favorite reptiles, there were games for the kids to play.  This was a fun meeting for young and old alike.
