White House Invites
USARK to Comment on Python Ban
The White House Office of Management & Budget (OMB) invited USARK to
make comment on the proposed rule-making by US Fish & Wildlife Service.
Interior Secretary Salazar has directed USFWS to consider a proposed ‘Rule
Change’ to the Lacey Act adding the 9 Constrictor Snakes addressed in the
recent USGS report to the Injurious Wildlife list. OMB gives directives to
USFWS on potential rule-making prior to publishing a proposed ’Rule Change’ in
the Federal Register. The Federal Register is like a newspaper for federal
agencies to make public announcements of potential actions.
USARK was invited to make comment to OMB prior to the issue of
directives to USFWS and the subsequent publishing of a proposed ‘Rule Change’
in the Federal Register. USARK thanks OMB for the opportunity to make
comment at this stage of the process. USARK expects that the posting of the
proposed Rule Change in the Federal Register will occur this week. Stay tuned
for instructions once we know exactly what will be published.
